Overview

Emotionally Intelligent Conversations teaches practical knowledge and skills for open, honest and respectful dialogue, especially when stakes are high, emotions are intense and positions differ. This class examines real workplace communication challenges. Participants will extensively demonstrate techniques for greater self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship management and problem solving.

Learning Objectives

At the end of this workshop, participants will be able to

  • Describe the core components of emotional intelligence (EI)
  • Examine the value of EI for personal and professional success
  • Assess emotional strengths and needs for development
  • Develop skills in communicating when stakes are high
  • Apply feedback skills to selected workplace issues
  • Develop an improvement plan for increasing skill in emotional intelligence and/or difficult conversations
