About the Course

Overview

There’s a lot more to interpersonal communication than you might think. If you break it down by its definition (the sending and receiving of information, emotions and meaning to arrive at shared understanding between two or more people), the concept seemingly becomes infinitely more complex. It is best achieved face to face to allow observation of powerful nonverbal messages.

This experiential course will explore the principles and processes of communication that determine success and failures at work.

Learning Objectives

At the end of this workshop, participants will be able to

  • Demonstrate listening and responding skills to manage relationships
  • Explore personal mental models that enhance/hinder effective communication
  • Describe nonverbal behavior and its contribution to understanding
  • Practice giving and receiving feedback
  • Practice communication techniques for responding when in conflict
