About the Course

Overview

Every generation employed by your organization possesses a characteristic set of behaviors and values regarding work ethic, the meaning of work, communication styles, authority and motivation. The way individuals exhibit these differences may inhibit collegiality, collaboration and engagement.

In this course, participants learn about the aspects of diversity that different generations can bring about in organizations and how acknowledging those differences can lead to the cultivation of a positive, productive and inclusive work environment. This course also provides specific strategies for managing across and within generations.

Learning Objectives

At the end of this workshop, participants will be able to

  • Summarize the general characteristics of the five generations
  • Identify and disprove the myths and assumptions each group makes about the others
  • Apply strategies for effective interpersonal communication and management across and within generations
  • Describe and simulate workplace climate conditions conducive for diversity to be acknowledged, exhibited and valued
  • Devise a personal plan of action to achieve new diversity goals
